Tearfund

We are Christians passionate about the local church bringing justice and transforming lives – overcoming global poverty.

Our ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.

This organization channels the donations of Christians to disaster areas.  Tearfund will be first on the scene when disaster strikes, and last to leave.  The media cameras move on, but Tearfund continue with the long-term work that building up and restoration means, long after the earthquake, flood or famine began.  Marc Parry from St. Andrew's works in the Tearfund office in London.

Please note that Tearfund put out an SOS about Afghanistan BEFORE  September 11th.  It has hundreds of projects, both large and small, in many lands, and supports some 27,000 children.  It has a branch called TEARCRAFT which promotes fair trading and creates markets for third world skilled handworkers, thus cutting out profiteering middle-men.

Tearfund also produces a very good prayer bulletin containing news of Christian concerns in many lands in the light of current events.
