Bible Society

This began in 1790 when the touching story of a little Welsh girl who had saved for many years to buy a Bible, caused leading Christians to form an organization for printing and distributing Bibles on a much larger scale than hitherto. This Bible Society had a tremendous influence in Victorian England, causing industrial law, education, customs etc, to become more Christian. Branches exist in many countries and are of the utmost value to the infant churches and missionaries working abroad.

The Bible Society still takes many initiatives to make the Bible known. The film "The Miracle Maker", which many school parties saw, was made by the Bible Society, and made the facts of Jesus' life explicit to many children who had only the haziest notions of who Jesus is.
