Mission Support

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 28: 19-20

MISSION SUPPORT POLICY.

St Andrew's has a carefully thought out policy of mission support. It relates to the responsibilities we should have as part of the Anglican Church family in promoting the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.

The six agencies selected represent a wide spread of outreach corresponding to Biblical principles.

1.                 Church's Ministry to the Jews.

"to the Jew first". (Romans 1:16)

This Society ministers to Jews and Arabs, living in the Holy Land and to Jews living in many other parts of the world.

2.                 Church Pastoral Aid Society.

"Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you" (Mark 5:19)

This Society supports the preaching of the Gospel in our own country.

3.                 Crosslinks (ex-BCMS)

"God's Word to God's World".

This Society works mainly in Africa and Asia, but also promotes outreach by Christians from overseas in this country and other parts of Europe. Our link missionaries are David and Rachel Williams working in Nairobi, Kenya.

4.                 South American Mission Society

"my witnesses to the end of the earth" (Acts 1:8)

This Society works in Latin America and in the Iberian Peninsula.

Our link missionary is Amy Haigh, who went from St. Andrew's to work in Antofagasta, Chile.

The above four are Anglican Societies, financed and supported solely by giving by parish churches in Great Britain and Ireland.

5.                 Bible Society.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105).

This organisation translates, prints and distributes  the Scriptures in many languages, always seeking to put Bibles into people's hands in a language they can understand, in a print they can read and at a price they can afford.

6.                 TEAR Fund (The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund)

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has not pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?"

This agency seeks to give the poor the means to help themselves and to rush aid to disaster areas throughout the world.
